Threads: https://www.threads.net/@oohgaryc This Disney Cruise Line vlog begins at the DoubleTree hotel in Southampton, where I stayed the night before embarkation day. After collecting Gary from the Southampton Central train station, we drive to the Horizon Cruise Terminal and drop off our luggage before boarding the Disney Fantasy. After be welcomed onboard by the cast and crew, we explore the ship before it gets busy, taking in the Atrium lobby, pools, AquaDuck water coaster, and Animator’s Palate restaurant for lunch. During embarkation day, I share practical tips for your cruise, how boarding groups work, luggage tags, and the advantages of booking a specific stateroom rather than a guaranteed one. We also show how to connect to the onboard Wi-Fi and walk you through pricing for the streaming package versus the standard plan. After lunch, we confirm our Palo reservation, explore the adult-exclusive Europa district, and visit the Small World Nursery and Oceaneer Club for a look at the themed spaces inspired by Toy Story, Star Wars, and Marvel. Our stateroom tour follows, featuring Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom 9074 with verandah. The best and most spacious stateroom for families: with split bathrooms, extra storage, and a balcony. We attend the mandatory safety drill inside the Buena Vista Theatre (a seated muster station), share tips on choosing staterooms with more comfortable muster locations, and head up to deck 11 for the Sail Away Party with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Pluto, Goofy and Chip & Dale. Despite some unpredictable weather, the energy is high as the Disney Fantasy horn plays “When You Wish Upon a Star” as we wave goodbye to Southampton. Dinner is in Royal Court, where we enjoy the French-inspired menu with dishes like deep fried brie, French onion soup, steak, and apple tarte tatin, plus plenty of laughter and five-star service. After dinner, we wind down in our stateroom as the ship prepares to depart late due to rough seas ahead, and we discuss how the itinerary may change, possibly turning our fjord day into a sea day depending on the weather.
