The first 101% Hard Mode Speedrun that will be submitted to speedrun.com, so it's world record by default. Some examples about why hard is difficult and different to easy includes the AI being able to shoot orbs and clocks at you, the AI are generally more aggressive with missiles and back spam, every relic is 5 seconds harder, and wumpa crates usually give less wumpa compared to easy. The AI are also significantly faster as well, leading to some races having bagging opportunities. This category/run has been pretty much what I have been busy with all of December. All of the routing and practice led to this run. It started on Christmas Eve and ended on Christmas day, which is neat. While I did get hit by some clocks and orbs and had some pretty bad mistakes, this was a solid run and the first I got a sub 2:50 before podium removal, which was my goal. The AI could have decided to shoot more clocks and orbs at me so the RNG could be a lot worse. I wanted to truly feel like I beat the game so that's why I played on hard as opposed to playing on easy as everyone before me. The hard AI make it difficult to stay comfortable as the threat of a power item is always possible. In terms of the plain old 101% board, this run is 2nd to Katsu who currently holds the 101% WR on easy at 2:46:06 and I'll continue to see if I can beat that time. Also, this run is the RTA world record by nearly 15 minutes simply because it's the first competitive run on a Series X. Sub 3:30 is easily repeatable so the idea of performing this for a GDQ or an event that is similar is realistic for the future.
