This custom engineered solution from Matrix Design features a rail mounted Fanuc M-20 Robot that tends two machine tools also performs multiple secondary operations. Parts are presented to the system in a multi-layer drawer system to allow for hours of unattended running. This drawer system allows for the operator to load raw parts without having to shut down the system, maximizing productivity. A custom designed End of Arm Tooling (EOAT) mounted to the Fanuc robot can open drawers and pick up to six parts at once. Once the robot picks up parts, it presents them to two separate machine tools for processing. While the machines are in cycle, the robot takes the previously finished parts to a deburr station and CMM for quality checks. The deburr spindle, designed by the Matrix team, takes any sharp edges off of the part - allowing for safe operator handling. Following the deburr operation, the robot presents the parts to a CMM system for tolerance checks on multiple areas on the part. If a part fails this quality check, it is rejected through a built in reject conveyor. If the part passes the inspection, it is then re-loaded into the same drawer system it was loaded into. This process is repeated until all parts in the drawer are completed, allowing for an operator to unload the finished parts.
