I was totally unaware that these rapids were here until Connecticut River Conservancy released the Connecticut River Paddlers' Trail map for the Massachusetts and Connecticut part of the river. The new map goes into detail about these rapids and gives 3 portage options for the Turner's Falls dam (short, medium and long). To access these rapids, cross the sketchy looking bridge over the power canal behind the brick building at Great Falls Discovery Center. Paddled: 8-11-23 and 8-12-23 Boats: Prijon Yukon Expedition "Spud" and LiquidLogic Remix XP9 "Willa" Flow Rate: 17,000 - 20,000 cubic feet per second at Montague City. This stream gauge is downstream of the end of the power canal and the confluence of the Deerfield River, so it doesn't tell you how much water is in the main channel versus how much is in the power canal.
