Understandably, patients often look for a quick fix to get better. The Good Feet Store has excellent television advertisements that paint the picture that you come into the store with pain and after putting an over-the-counter insole in your shoe you leave pain-free. We know this as Dr. Jordan Stewart at Timonium Foot and Ankle Center has seen several dozen patients that have spent between $1500-$2000 on these over-the-counter products only to continue to suffer with foot and/or ankle pain. They continue to suffer because The Good Feet Store is a retail store and not a medical facility. The services are provided by sales persons and not doctors. They do not perform a clinical examination, they do not take x-rays, they do not perform a medical evaluation and they do not provide a diagnosis and a comprehensive treatment plan. What they do is sell is an out of the box, over-the-counter, extremely expensive set of devices marketed as a life-changing product. This fits the description of if "it is too good to be true." Natalie, an avid runner, was suffering with chronic foot pain for eight months and out of desperation, and looking for a quick fix, went to the Good Feet Store. $1500 later her pain was getting worse and she decided to seek medical attention. Dr. Stewart performed a thorough history and physical examination, took x-rays of the foot, and provided Natalie with a diagnosis and comprehensive treatment plan. This treatment plan included patient education, as well as continuing to exercise without hurting her foot. 3-D scanning technology was used to capture images of her foot and custom foot orthotics were fabricated for long-term treatment. Within one month of following Dr. Stewart's recommendations and utilizing the appropriate medical equipment, Natalie was 75% better and four months later she is 90% better. She is wearing the appropriate supportive shoe gear and her custom foot orthotics and is getting back into running. Natalie wanted to share her story and educated others considering a visit to The Good Feet Store for a medical condition. She highly recommends going to an experienced podiatrist like Dr. Stewart for comprehensive foot and ankle care.
