Sing for the trees, as they are the lungs and the memory of our planet. Kids will be guided by a butterfly through the beautiful and majestic sequoia trees of California in this music video from Claudia Robin Gunn's nature and seasons album Sing Through The Year - A Little Wild Childhood. Originally written in homage to the Pōhutukawa and Kauri Trees of Aotearoa New Zealand, Claudia was inspired to set the song to this stunning footage shot by cinematographer and photographer RODNAE Productions (via Pexels) in tribute to the brave firefighters and community around the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks who are battling the #KNPComplex of fires in the parks right now, threatening the ancient Sequoia Groves. The Redwood Mountain Grove, contains the largest grove of giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum) trees on earth. It contains the world’s tallest giant sequoia, 312 feet (95 meters). Kauri are threatened in New Zealand not by wildfire, but by a hidden danger - a plant disease caused by the microscopic soil borne pathogen Phytophthora agathidicida. Claudia posts this video with the utmost hope that that the forest survive the fires, & with respect and care for the brave firefighters and organisations trying to manage this situation. 🎙 Claudia Robin Gunn is an independent folk singer/songwriter and video producer in Auckland New Zealand, and Recording Academy member, who runs her own independent kindie label Little Wild Music, producing award winning recordings and sweet videos for families. 🏆 Claudia Robin Gunn’s memorable melodies and sweet, smart lyrics have been gathering praise ever since her first APRA AMCOS NZ Best Children’s Song Award in 2008 for the song Lullaby Time – an honour she received jointly with the famous The Wonkey Donkey song by @Craig Smith - The Wonky Donkey Man which you can view here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDeQT.... 🎶 Subscribe to see more 📻 Listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/track/5wyDxu... 💿 Download at Bandcamp: https://claudiagunn.bandcamp.com/albu... 📖 Download songbook at Amazon Kindle: https://www.amazon.com.au/Sing-Throug... 🎥 VIDEO CREDITS: Produced by Little Wild Music https://www.littlewildmusic.com All footage and cinematography by RODNAE Productions via Pexels Songwriting / Vocals: Claudia Robin Gunn Thumbnail: Claudia Robin Gunn https://www.claudiagunn.com Audio Production :Tom Fox at The Sound Room https://thesoundroom.co.nz 🙏 Sing Through The Year – A Little Wild Childhood made with help from Creative NZ NOTES FROM THE SONGBOOK: “For all of us who have ever wished an old tree could tell us their story; the vast, wide girthed, towering, reaching, encompassing, dizzying ones that we might just be lucky enough to encounter at the corner of our street, in the park or reserve, on a hillside by the sea, or deep in the bush where few folks tread. Every tree has a tale to tell, if only we stop and listen. Children have a deep connection with the trees of their childhood; they know the nooks that are good for sitting, or the footholds for climbing, or the perfect shade for resting in. This song is a wish for those trees’ protection, both singly and in their multitudes, for our very existence may just depend on them. New Zealand was once an island filled with giants; a land of trees, and birds and unique creatures - evolving down its own path since Gondwanaland. We still have patches and swathes of protected forest, and many are working towards restoring natural ecosystems in suburbia as well as in reserve. Now it’s hard to really comprehend how our land must have once been when all leafy cloaked and alive with birdlife “ (though we can get a taste by visiting island sanctuaries). Perhaps our future may just lead us back to where we started, if we really listen to the trees?” GRANDFATHER TREE SONG LYRICS Grandfather Tree Tell me the sights that you’ve seen All of the years that you’ve stood Watching out over my neighbourhood Grandfather Tree Tell me the stories you know From all of the years that you’ve grown Rising tall, here at the comer of my street Grandfather Tree Sing me your leaf lullaby Under your branches I’ll hide And I will sleep here in the shade of your leaves Grandfather Tree Shelter me, Shelter me, Shelter me, Shelter me Grandfather Tree Whisper your secrets of old Show me the visions you hold Send me your dream So many years in the making ...
