Stampscapes 101: Video 79. Rotring Rapidograph Technical Pens

Not a stamping video here but a video on the pens that I use to draw the designs for Stampscapes. I normally wouldn't do a video on this but I'm asked about the designs from time to time and was getting around to start working on some new ones. Rotring Rapidograph pens are the pens that I've come to use over the past 25 years or so and a couple years ago I read that they've been discontinued or aren't being imported into the US any longer --or for the time being? I think they're still out there on some website stores but not sure. I bought a lot of ink cartridges and a few nibs to hold me for quite a few years so we'll see. I always felt that they were the best of these types of pens on the market. I've used other tech pens, had electric ultrasonic and syringe cleaners for those nibs, special cleaning solutions for them, etc. and that's what I seemed to be doing with them a lot --cleaning them. I had a lot of bent needles in the other pens that I could never re-straighten and there was also this situation at times where there would be this drop of ink constantly forming on the tip. I figured there was some kind of pressure building up in the ink reservoir possibly due to heat building up from being in my hand or something but I'm not sure. With the Rotring, if I had to clean them, I've just soaked the nibs in water and I've never had that ink drop situation. I just checked the Rotring website out of curiosity and they're still listed on there so I don't know what's up with them, the US distributor, or some other entity. Some sites say that they're available in other countries but the US or something like that. Anyway... Thanks for watching! NOTE: I soaked the dry clogged tips in water and they cleaned up fine.
