3-8-2023, Seeing a “loom up,” LAFD Task Force 15 first on scene at 2615 S. Grand Avenue reported a six story office building with heavy fire and smoke showing from the top floor. Companies immediately requested 3 addition Task Forces on top of the original assignment. The concrete building housed the Los Angeles County Department of Social Services and other Los Angeles organizations. The fire ran horizontally, involving a large section of office space in the northern area of the building. Firefighters hooked up the standpipes and attacked the fire with several hand-lines. Firefighters also “dropped bagged” hose up the roof to attack flames in the overhead spaces. It took approximately 160 LAFD Firefighters about an hour the knock down the fire. Two Firefighters suffered smoke inhalation injuries and were treated on scene. The cause of the intense “Major Emergency Fire” is under investigation. MNR
