This situation contrast to the data on fish species in Kalimantan which was last collected in 1993 by Kottelat et al. According to data from the Ministry of Forestry, the deforestation rate in Kalimantan from 2000 to 2005 reached 1.23 million hectares, which means that 673 hectares of forest in Kalimantan are deforested every day. According to 2010 data, Kalimantan only has 25.5 million hectares of forest left. This needs to be our priority concern and underlies the urgency of the project Freshwater Fish of Borneo (FFOB) to recording the latest data and saving freshwater fish species in Kalimantan. We want to overcome the impact of deforestation and land use change by accelerating species collection and initiating fish conservation, which until now has never been done in Kalimantan. FFOB, Present as a project to collecting data from Kalimantan freshwater fish. We will be a place to get information about Biodiversity and conservation Borneo freshwater fish. We also be a scientific forum for both academic and non-academic communities that interest to learn species of freshwater fish in Kalimantan. Our mission statement is become a center for the conservation of Borneo freshwater fish and main media for scientific learning of Kalimantan freshwater fish. In addition, we want to build a professional team both science and aquaculture so that in addition to protecting fish species, we also have a social impact to society.
