These microvascular complications occur before the macrovascular complications. Eyes are the windows to a person’s health also because this is the only place where the changes in the body can be seen. This can affect all the parts of the eye causing increased chances of lid infection causing glaucoma, or cataract. There is a disease called as diabetic retinopathy. These happen because of microvascular complications and these are seen before the other complications in the body. That is why it is necessary for anybody who is diagnosed diabetics to undergo an eye checkup even if he doesn’t have any problem. We ask the diabetes people to have a very good control of the blood sugar, hence the diabetic complications can be postponed to a major extent. There are various options involved when the patient is diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy. We have to find out which stage of the diabetic retinopathy the patient is under and advised lasers, injections into the eye or a surgery called victrectomy.
