Ruben Parra-Cardona, PhD., is a Professor and Associate Dean for Global Engagement at the Steve Hicks School of Social Work. Additionally, he serves as Area Director for Research at the UT-Austin Latino Research Institute. As of August 1st, 2024, he will start a new position as the inaugural Nooe Endowed Chair at the College of Social Work at the University of Tennessee. He has been funded by NIMH and NIDA. His research focuses on culturally adapted parenting interventions for Latino families with young and adolescent children. Dr. Parra-Cardona has extensive experience in cross-border research collaborations, including a large-scale initiative in Chile to disseminate a culturally adapted parenting program. He was recently invited as an expert co-author for a Parenting Intervention Handbook by the World Health Organization, aimed at guiding international organizations and governments in selecting, designing, evaluating, implementing, monitoring, and scaling up evidence-based parenting interventions for children aged 0-17 years.
