In this video I head to Withernsea on the East Yorkshire coast to photograph the wooden groynes using a long-exposure approach and then transform the images into fine art photography using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. I’m shooting with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II, paired with a 25mm prime lens and a 6-stop variable ND filter, allowing me to smooth the sea and simplify the scene straight out of camera. The groynes provide strong leading lines and structure, making them perfect subjects for minimalist fine art seascape photography. Back at the computer, I walk you through my simple fine art editing process, showing step by step how I convert a standard coastal photo into a clean, moody black and white fine art image. I focus on basic tonal adjustments, contrast control, dodging and burning, and subtle refinements to create a timeless fine art look — without overcomplicating the workflow. This video is all about showing that fine art editing doesn’t need to be complex. You don’t need advanced techniques or hours of editing to create fine art photography. With a clear vision, simple compositions, and a straightforward Lightroom and Photoshop workflow, anyone can achieve strong fine art results.
