LSP Seminar 2025: Author Katriona O'Sullivan on Storytelling from the Margins

This conversation between Jacob Kildoo of the Nanovic Institute and acclaimed Irish author Katriona O'Sullivan took place at the Nanovic Institute's Summer 2025 Laura Shannon Prize conference at Kylemore Abbey in Ireland. O'Sullivan provides insights into her complex process of writing about trauma, her thoughts on the systemic barriers to opportunity in the world of literature and higher education, and her own struggles and triumphs while writing her award-winning memoir, Poor. In addition, she shares excerpts from her book and answers audience questions in the concluding Q&A session.
