There are two main types of glass we use in the Flame Shop here at BAGI, Soft glass (coe 104) and Borosilicate (coe 33) which is also referred to as "hard glass". Most beadmakers use soft glass in their practice, while borosilicate is generally the preferred choice for larger sculptural objects, marbles, and blown forms due to its relatively resilient characteristics. Soft glass presents a larger window of time to shape the material, while boro can, in many cases, be allowed to cool down without risk of cracking.
