Renewing the Precepts Ceremony

This ceremony is held twice a month when the monastic community and lay residents gather to recite the sixteen Bodhisattva Precepts, or principles of discipline. It is our equivalent of the Uposatha or Observance Day which has been practised in Buddhist temples since the time of Shakyamuni. You may take part in the ceremony yourself if you wish, joining in with the bows and recitations. When you see the word 'meditation' onscreen (at 24:00) you can pause playback and meditate for the duration you choose, then resume playback through to the end of the ceremony.
