There was a time when people became gay for this ... turn based combat ... and to this day the only game that can be called good is Jagged Alliance , its sequel Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games and Part 3 named Jagged Alliance 2 ... yes, they fucked up the numeration like with Assassin Creed So why people became so fascinated by this game... 2003 was the year when people became gay for 3D with physics ... and you get a Jagged Alliance clone in 3D , with Aliens , Mechs and a fully 3D camera that you can move around ... it still boggles my mind how a game with a broken inventory system and awful combat ...can be cult ... Gui was horrid , mission base screen over convoluted (click this door , then see a animation , then click this and see a animation , then click this door and you can take ammo) ... and combat don't start me on it ... heck even Fallout Tactics did it 10x better Guess its one of those games that became cult not for its awful gameplay (same could be said about the story line) but for its game mechanics ... back in 2003 game devs in RPGs and games like this, always forgot about simple things ...all the F@# time : Good Pathfiding - click here and he jumps on a railing and goes here making a short-cut you did not expect Physics and Environment damage - anything can be destroyed , guess for that thing only it became cult A working 3D camera - in that timeslot of 2000-2003 3D games where stuck in this isometric view and devs could not figure out how to make a good camera in a 3D environment work but then again UFO: Aftermath from 2003 was 400x better then this crappy game ... better gui , base screen , story etc.. Like they say : Review hype at that time made this game CULT for revolutionary gameplay mechanics ... then a good story presentation , and all those little sheeps not having internet said "BAAAAAAAA" and made this cult
