Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS), has developed a series of short videos to raise awareness on the importance of prehospital care services and to highlight NRCS’s multifaceted role in emergency health response. These videos aim to inform communities, stakeholders, and partners about how timely care before reaching a health facility can save lives and reduce long-term complications. A key focus of NRCS’s prehospital care strengthening is Capacity building of health care providers and first responders. Through regular training on Basic Life Support (BLS) and Prehospital Trauma Care (PTC), NRCS enhances the skills of ambulance staff, volunteers, and frontline responders to provide immediate, lifesaving care during emergencies, accidents, disasters, and public health crises. In addition, NRCS supports Health facility capacity strengthening by providing essential basic health care equipment and supplies. This support helps health facilities deliver timely and quality services, especially in underserved and disaster-prone areas, and ensures better continuity of care once patients are referred from the community or ambulance services. The videos also highlight NRCS’s extensive Prehospital care services, including ambulance operations, first aid services, volunteer mobilization, and coordination with local governments and health institutions. Beyond emergency medical care, NRCS integrates Protection, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) risk mitigation, and psychosocial considerations within its response, ensuring dignity, safety, and inclusiveness for vulnerable populations. Furthermore, the videos capture NRCS’s contribution during the COVID-19 response, including emergency transport, community awareness, infection prevention support, and protection services. Through these short, engaging videos, RCS and NRCS aim to strengthen public understanding, promote preparedness, and reinforce their commitment to saving lives and reducing suffering through comprehensive, people-centered prehospital care services.
