A 2-minute Cigar review of the Charter Oak by Foundation Cigar Co. with habano wrapper. When smoked: May, 2023 Size: Toro (6 inches x 52 gauge) Retail price paid: US$7.25 Box price is about US$111 Comments: A medium body smoke at a lower mid-level price point, this cigar performs to it's cost. Flavor good, decent burn to start, construction initially looked good but there was severe cracking and flaking of the wrapper by the 2/3 point. I had this Charter Oak cigar in my humidor for about a month, with carefully monitored temperature and humidity, so I have to attribute the problems to construction. In spite of the issues with it, I consider the Charter Oak Habano worth a try - but don't pop for a box before you try one. Also, the Charter Oak Habano is one of three versions, Foundation Cigar Co. also makes a Connecticut and Maduro version. Those versions feature US grown wrappers, Connecticut shade and Connecticut Broadleaf. The Habano version is primarily Nicaraguan tobacco, including the wrapper.
