The Day of Arafah is regarded as one of the most sacred days in the Islamic calendar. For those performing Hajj, it marks the spiritual pinnacle of the pilgrimage. From noon until sunset, pilgrims gather on the plains of Mount Arafah, standing in solemn prayer, reflection, and supplication, seeking Allah’s boundless mercy and forgiveness. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “Hajj is Arafah.” Across the globe, Muslims who are not on Hajj also observe the Day of Arafah through fasting. Abu Qatadah reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was asked about fasting the day of ‘Arafat, and he said, “It will expiate the sins of the previous and upcoming years.” Then, the Prophet was asked about fasting the day of ‘Ashura, and he said, “It will expiate the sins of the past year.” Source: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1162 It was on the Day of ‘Arafah that Allah (SWT) perfected His religion, completed His favours upon His beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and approved Islam as a way of life!
