She was born as Alecia Beth Moore in Pennsylvania, USA - her mother was an emergency room nurse, her father an insurance salesman. Alecia was trained as a competitive gymnast between the age of 4 and 12. In High school she joined her first band called 'Middleground' but after they lost a battle of the bands competition they disbanded. At about 14 she began performing in clubs in Philadelphia. That time she also developped her stage name "Pink" - taken from a character from the Quentin Tarentino Movie "Reservoir Dogs". She then auditioned for a place in the all-female group "Basic Instinct" and earned a spot in the lineup. But the group disbanded soon. Pink moved on to a group named "Choice" with 2 other girls. But the album they recorded never got released and producer L.A. Reid soon told Pink to "go solo or go home". In 2000 she worked together with well known producers like Babyface and released her debut single "There you go". It became her first Billboard Top 10 hit. Short thereafter her debut album "Can't Take Me Home" was released and charted across the world - reaching Top 10 in Australia. Her first #1 single was a collab with Mya, Christina Aguilera, recorded for the movie "Moulin Rouge!". The single "Lady Marmalade" also topped the charts in the UK, Germany, Australia and Ireland among other places. The song won P!nk her first of 3 Grammys, this one for "Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals". In 2001 P!nk released her 2nd album "Missundaztood" - before she recruited Linda Perry from the group "4 Non Blondes" (a favorite of Pink's teenage years) as songwriter. In 2003 her 3rd album "Try This" got released and the single "Trouble" got her the 2nd Grammy Award for "Best Female Rock Vocal Performance". Her fourth album "I'm Not Dead" was released in 2006. The album topped the charts in Australia and New Zealand. In 2008 P!nk released the single "So What" as the lead for her album "Funhouse". It became her first #1 single on her own. It also topped the charts in the UK, Germany, Australia among other places. The album also topped the charts in the UK and Australia and reached #2 in the USA. That was her best result in her homecountry to this point. In 2012 P!nk released her next album "The Truth About Love" - it topped the US Billboard album charts and also peaked at #1 in Germany, Australia and Canada among other places. The single "Just Give Me A Reason" with Nate Ruess became her 3rd #1 single in the US Hot 100. It also topped the charts in Germany and Australia among other places. She had two more #1 albums in her homecountry as both "Beautiful Trauma" in 2017 and "Hurts 2B Human" released in 2019 peaked atop the chart. In total P!nk released 8 studio albums, 10 Live/Compilation albums and also about 50 singles. She sold over 150 million records worldwide, making her one of the best selling artists of all time and one of the top artists of the 2000s. She is a first-ballot Chrizly-Charts Hall-of-Famer with almost 20 songs in and therefore another artist that deserves a Top 40 of my favorite songs. So here they are, hope you enjoy!
