Slim Whitman - 10 Overlooked Gems #8 "The Word Is Love"

Throughout my many years of working to promote Slim’s career there has been a handful of people I couldn’t have done it without. It started with Albert Clayton and Peter Snashall, who founded “The Slim Whitman Appreciation Society of Great Britain.” It eventually was run by David and Yvonne Evans before I became affiliated in 1979, where I incorporated it all under the banner of “The S.W.A.S of the United States.” Others who helped along the way were Bill Booth, Ron and Betty Alley, Ronnie Orr, Rein Van Rooy, Henry Spiken, Peter Webster and, last but not least, Paul Hazell. Paul is an English gentleman and a published authority on Country Music around the globe. Paul has worked diligently over the years working with Slim’s record companies going through the master tapes to find unreleased materials and different versions of songs. He currently hosts “Paul Hazell’s World of Country,” which is three hours of great old time country music.
