I had an idea a few months ago to make a real plasma sword, utilizing a beefed up hand held Jacob's Ladder with some type of high pressure air blowing beneath it. I finally thought it through, and it was a lot easier than I initially imagined. With the right components, and high enough voltage, this concept could be a viable option for a real light saber.
