It had clearly been down there for a while. But it wasn’t empty. Inside, a large hermit crab was desperately trying to escape… and a pufferfish was stuck with it. No way out. No food. No chance. The trap was tied tight and hardened by the sea. I tried pulling it apart — nothing. That’s when I pulled out my Kershaw dive knife. The saw on the back blade was my only option. Underwater, at depth, I started cutting. Slowly. Carefully. Finally, I managed to saw a hole big enough… The hermit crab scrambled free first. Then the pufferfish followed.
