Global Vipassana Pagoda - In a chaotic and congested city like Mumbai, it is hard to find a moment of peace. That's why the Global Vipassana Pagoda in Gorai village has become an important centre for meditation in Mumbai. the Pagoda is a meditation hall with a capacity to seat at least 8000 people. The 96 meters high stupa has been modelled after Myanmar's Shwedagon Pagoda. Inside, there's a giant dome which houses the relics of the Buddha. This happens to be the world's largest stone dome built without any supporting pillars. It is built using an ancient technique of interlocking stones. The height of this dome is approximately 29 meters. Under this dome lies the meditation hall which is completely hollow and exudes a sense of peace and calm like no other place in the city.
