At the end of cucumber season, when the creeper is at it's last stage, there will be few manglore cucumbers, those are tender. They neither grow up nor used for making curries, as they will have bitter taste. So this is the method to use them without wasting. We remove it's bitter taste by mixing it with salt and rest for one day. Next day we will sundry them. Sun-dry continues until it is dried well, that is upto 4-5 days. Such sun-dried pieces are stored and made pickle during mansoons. Before making pickle, we wash them in saturated salt water and again soak them in the same. Then the masala of dry red chillies, mustard seeds and turmeric powder are ground and mixed with the pieces. It tastes heavenly with hot rice with curd.
