MONUMENTA 2007 Anselm Kiefer

This video is composed of animated photos of flowers taken during the Monumenta 2007 exhibition called "Sternenfall" at the Grand Palais in 2007. Anselm Kiefer was the first artist invited to participate in the yearly event. In "Maison IV", one of the many structures housing the artist's works, hung on its main wall a very large painting "Aperiatur Terra". The monumental work was showing a large field of dry up terra cotta earth with flowers appearing through the barren field. Those colorful flowers became the subject of numerous photos done with my high resolution macro-lens. Later I decided to animate these photos and mount them into the 23 minutes video shown here. Kiefer's artistic canvas, mostly monochrome paintings and sculptures, show here in "Aperiatur Terra" small and vibrant blobs of colors that are being highlighted in the form of eccentrically shaped flowers that move and morph to the music of Klaus Schulze.
