A: Challenging motives, not just feelings or behaviors, is the greatest way to recover because self-centeredness is the biggest problem, and people need to shift from living for themselves to living for Christ. 🎯 Q: What's the true goal of the gospel in addiction recovery? A: The goal is to become the person you were created to be, not just to stop using or stay clean for a certain period, as addiction stems from living for yourself instead of Christ. 💡 Q: Why is understanding your "why" crucial in recovery? A: Your "why" determines how far, high, and long you'll fly, and it will be judged by God on the day of judgment, making it essential to align your motives with God's purpose. Spiritual Growth and Identity 🙏 Q: How can prayer help in spiritual growth? A: Pray for Christ to be formed in you, not just for specific outcomes, as God responds to who you are in Christ, not just your desires. 🆓 Q: What's the true definition of freedom in the Bible? A: Freedom is actually living without thinking about yourself, but seeking first the kingdom of God, not just hoping for it. 🔄 Q: How can changing motives impact behavior? A: Changing the motive in a person's heart can change their conduct, making it a key principle in ministering to those struggling with addiction. Practical Steps for Spiritual Transformation ❌ Q: What negative traits should be "put to death" for spiritual growth? A: Kill the flesh by putting to death fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language, and lying, as these are driven by self-centered desire. 🧘 Q: How should one approach personal identity? A: Don't identify with your current status, but live from your heart, faith, conviction, and covenant, as these truly define you and give strength to pursue peace and reconciliation. 🚫 Q: How can one avoid taking things personally? A: Don't take things personally or get defensive, as this leads to negative emotions; instead, kill the flesh and put to death these reactions driven by self-centeredness. Standing Firm in Faith 💪 Q: What mindset helps overcome addiction? A: Stand in the finished work of Christ, knowing you're a son, in covenant with God, with His strong hand on your life, not afraid or ashamed. 🧠 Q: How can one maintain mental strength during recovery? A: Thank God for soundness of mind, freedom, and longevity while standing firm in your identity as a child of God. Understanding and Applying Truth 📚 Q: Is personal experience necessary to help others overcome addiction? A: Personal experience isn't required; truth and the anointing of God make the difference in helping others overcome their struggles. 🔍 Q: What's a common misconception about denial in Christianity? A: Denial isn't about denying reality, but about not believing you can be okay in situations others think you shouldn't be, which is a tragic misconception in Christianity today. 🌟 Q: How does seeking God's kingdom relate to personal freedom? A: When you're not thinking about yourself but seeking first the kingdom of God, you're actually thinking about God's kingdom, which is the definition of freedom in the Bible.
