Alright, here's my offering of ANOTHER GTS OLED style tail light video for the F80 M3. Seriously though, I couldn't wait to get these on.. they look SOOO good. So what do I think about these lights besides cool, amazing, sexy, etc? I think they take the car out of the realm of OEM+ and really up the aggression level. They look mean, intricate, and a little JDM - which I love. The JDM community was my first real love back in the mid 90's with the MKIV Supra (guh), Eclipse, 300ZX, Skyline, 3000GT, etc. I think these lights bring a little of that style to the M3. Less "classy", more race and flashy. Not to mention that startup sequence. Doing this video, I definitely learned to slow down a little bit; mistakes were made. From not routing the brake light wire, to plugging into the wrong adapter for the outer lights (2013-2015 vs 2016 and up; read the label) to putting the trunk liner on without first fishing through the emergency trunk release cable. This one was trying.. but part of the process I guess. In any case, the end result was totally worth it and I'm finding it a little more comfortable talking to the camera as I do more of these. Speaking of which, theres a couple of new parts on the way that I'm insanely excited to do next. Still not sure how I feel about the whole instructional approach to these videos. I think I'm more of an install-and-review type and maybe note a few things during installation rather than a step by step guide; I wound up cutting a number of parts that I thought were extraneous during editing. Again, part of the process probably to find that style. Speaking of install notes: 1) these are very easy, but take your time 2) don't forget to run the wire from the outside lights up the trunk arm to the inner lights. I think I thought these were only needed for pre-LCI and forgot to verify, but yes you need to hook that wire up for your inner brake light. 3) speaking of that wire, don't try to get fancy with how it's run; for as long as it is, there's not much slack when the trunk is closed and you need every bit. Just connect it, then neatly integrate with the existing wires on the right. For the left, I used a little electrical type to secure to the trunk arm and the plastic cover hides the rest. Also, it's possible to run the wire through the hole between where the bolts secure the light and for the plastic nub to still use that hole. I don't think it will damage the wire, but if you want you could always cut that plastic piece on the lights out (I didn't). 4) the connector for pre/post LCI for the outer lights are (mostly) the same; make sure to read the label. 5) for the love of all that's good and holy, don't forget to thread the emergency trunk release cable before reinstalling the trunk liner. You never know if someone will kidnap you in your own car.. and you'll be glad you remembered. p.s. any yellow or orange color you see in the lights that's not the turn signal is due to the camera; the fins and brake lights are completely red. I thought there was a yellow-ish light that preceded the red in the startup sequence but that's just camera trickery.
