Landing in Toronto… Great camera’s (three of them) on the iPhone 16. Great view of CN Tower. I remember when it was build. A huge helicopter lifted the transmission tower onto the top!! On the ground now at Toronto International Airport. Walked a mile from my landing terminal to the terminal for my next leg of the journey. I remember seeing a movie years ago about a guy (played by Nicholas Cage?) who lived at the airport. Don’t think airport living is for me, but it is certainly a great place to get your 10,000 walking steps a day. Before I left I had a long dog walk with Newton, a dog chase with my neighbours dog Bailey), a long hot shower, and a thorough tick check of both Newton and myself, since yesterday I found a dead non-engorged tick on my shoulder with a tiny red spot. It was not embedded, and just brushed off. Showed red spot (tiny) and talked to pharmacist but neither he nor I thought antibiotics were called for. On the plane I could have sworn I had multiple ticks munching into my flesh. Let’s call them phantom ticks, or fake ticks. Nothing there, of course. Vapor ticks. iPhone16 cameras are amazing. I can even film my videos in 4K with 120 Hz frame rate, and I’ll experiment with that soon but they are much larger file sizes. I was in no rush to get off the plane. In fact I was the last passenger to leave. By the time I left, from near the back of the plane, a literal swarm of yellow safety-vested people converged on the plane to clean it so I had to dodge and weave to get by them. Felt like I was playing football (either of the American or British versions or both). In two hours I’ll be heading from Toronto to Vienna. When I’m over the Atlantic I’ll try the airplane internet; I am guessing that Elon Musk has fitted a Starlink or two onto the plane for midflight web access. I really want to join my old chess buddies for our twice weekly zero stakes (no gambling) poker game. Why should being on an airplane mid-Atlantic stop this. We chat via Zoom and use a free poker site to play for 1.5 hours or so. I wonder how much it will cost? Play a free game and pay $50 for the connection:( Maybe I’ll even film and post a midflight video, but if not, see you in Vienna. No idea what it costs. CTV News interview, with me:) Luckily, the timing worked perfectly for me to do this interview shortly after I woke up and just before I had to head to the airport for my travels to #COP29 2024 on track to be the warmest year on record • 2024 on track to be the warmest year on re...
