Pilger explains how al-Qaeda, and even the Taliban, both have their roots in American finance and organisation. Both those groups were born out of Muslim fanatic groups, setup, trained and funded, by special interest in the United States, via the vehicle of Washington. And the same goes for the resistance to the Taliban, the Afghan warlords, they became funded by the US after the Afghan invasion. And then, to profit out of these projects, the American money men must not only supply equipment and consumables to the military, they must make sure the US military personnel are actually using the munitions, so they can sell them more. They need perpetual war. And in the case of the Afghanistan Invasion, the US government also funded new partners, the Afghan warlords, who use similar violent oppressive tactics as the Taliban/al-Qaeda. It's a highly profitable business for some, but not for the locals of a US-invaded land, who suffer immense violence, hardship and destitution. This is one of my favourite documentaries of all time, but it makes me angry to watch it. I find myself shouting at the screen. It's frustrating that Bush, Blair and Co never got charged over it.
