How do you care for a baby boy who is not circumcised?

It's very important for parents to help keep their son's penis clean whether he's circumcised or not. Until he's about three to five years of age he'll need your help and then after that he can start making it a part of his regular daily routine. While babies are young it's pretty hard to retract the foreskin back so don't force it too hard, just be gentle and clean the outside with soap and water regularly. Once it starts to retract more easily, usually by age five, then pull the foreskin up towards the body of the penis and wash underneath as well as outside. This should be done on a regular basis throughout childhood and then once a boy reaches puberty it should be done every day. Keeping it clean will help reduce the chances of infection and other complications.
