Happy Man - Chic (1978) - bass "chucking" technique close-up

This is the explanation of my understanding of the "chucking" technique Bernard Edwards used so prominently on several Chic songs, including "Happy Man" and "Feet Keep Dancing". There is some discussion on the exact execution of this playing technique. In my approach there is no muting with the left hand, and no muting with the palm of the right hand. All muting is done by the thumb that gets to rest on the string on the downward stroke. Notwithstanding that the muting aspect remains up for discussion, I am able to reach a very similar tone as B.E. so I remain convinced that it is the right approach. Unfortunately my sound is not entirely consistent, as I broke the E string not long before this recording, so this E is newer than the other strings and sounds a bit brighter :(.
