It's been a cavalcade of beautiful experiences around the biggest of island of Azores: São Miguel, where incredible nature has been the overshadowing theme. Today however we decided to explore a little less nature and little more history. That's why we went to Ponta Delgade, which is the biggest city of the Azores Islands as well as the capital city. Ponta Delgada is more than 500 years old with a history that is quite exciting even for non-historians, as the city played an important role back when Portugal was the leading empire of the World. Azores played an important role as a fresh supply transit when having gone to Brazil for their vast resources of gold. But it wasn't without challenges as there was a continuous raid-attempts from the sea-roaming pirates. Luckily Ponta Delgada was equipped with the most advanced military defense known to man back then. After having explored Ponta Delgada we drove to Cha Gorreana, which is a very special tea plantation, as it's only 1 of 2 in the entire European continent. And the second one? Also located on São Miguel. It was quite interesting to visit a tea plantation, as we had never tried that before. Oh yeah, did you notice where we started the vlog? That's right: Sete Cidades. Fortunately, we managed to get a blue skies view from the marvellous view point of São Miguel: Miradouro da Boca do Inferno.
