His musical ability is one that is described as exceptional. Yacouba was born in 1975, Tougan Burkina Faso, West Africa. He comes from a long line of Diabates (or griots), who play a historic role in maintaining the rich oral traditions of the Mandingo group of West Africa. Yacouba was taught by the legendary Toumani Diabate, and was his best student. He has been performing throughout the United States since 2009. These performances have been breathtaking.... Yacouba Diabate And Kingdom-Sounds band is currently playing throughout New York City. They have performed in several different venues throughout the United States and Europe, including the United Nations in 2008 and 2009. He frequents many different Music venues in New York City, collaborating with artists such as Les Nubion, Ounou Sangoue, and Sekouba Banbino. He was also a permanent band member at the Saint Nick's Pub. In Europe, Yacouba has traveled to countries such as France, Germany, and many others.
