Today is the hundredth anniversary of Leonard Bernstein's birth, and as I upload this, the LSO is performing Bernstein's 'On The Town' at the BBC Proms on 25 August 2018. This 1986 performance of Bernstein's second symphony under the composer's direction and featuring Krystian Zimerman as piano soloist at the Barbican was re-mastered today from the original Dolby C cassette recording, and presented in tribute to one of the true geniuses of the twentieth century. 1.
