This is the first time we are doing target training with this Green Cheek Conure! He learns how to target so quickly, it’s amazing! We use a clicker with a target stick to mark the right behavior and give the Conure a treat. Conures learn to follow a target stick. When the Conure touches the stick with his beak, he gets a treat. Once parrots learns to target, we can use this positive reinforcement training method to guide the birds to go where we point, such as come out of the cage, go back into the cage, go on a scale, fly to a specific spot, or walk over to our hand.
