Nice seats and new door panels are nice, but if the carpet is tattered and crusty, what's the point? Josie and Jefferson stripped out the old original carpets in her 1973 VW Beetle and show you how to install a new cut and sewn carpet kit from TMI Products. This kit has all the sections, cut to the original specs. It went in fairly fast with minimal trimming required (only for the vents and the seat adjusters), and looks absolutely killer. Because this is not a 1-piece molded carpet, it has to be glued down. We used a Harbor Freigth siphon-feed style paint gun with a 2.0 tip to spray the Weldwood Landau Top contact cement. You can 3M spray adhesive from a rattle can, but the carpet will peel up fast. To do this right, you need professional spray glue. You can order it online or buy some from your local upholstery shop. We used about 2.5 cups worth, which is about a half gallon. There was left over in the gun. Anyone with a small air compressor and spray gun can do this job, it is not difficult, just take your time and be patient. Make sure you like and subscribe, Thanks for watching.
