We needed to turn large logs for positioning, cutting into bucks, and splitting into firewood. The Woodchuck TimberPro 47” (119 cm) Cant Hook has been a great tool choice. We’ll show you why. #firewood #firewoodproduction #woodprocessing #logcutting #timber #forestryequipment We have a lot of wood to process, as my arborist friend Jason has been dropping off sizable loads to our lot. Anything that makes the job easier, cutting it into bucks or processing it for cutting into timbers and lumber, is welcome! Like you, we like our purchases to work hard and to last. Based on the reviews and the functionality of the Woodchuck TimberPro Cant Hook-Log Jack 47” (119 cm), we bought one for about $130. This combo tool can be used as a cant hook OR a log jack. The cant hook grips and turns logs using a movable metal hook that bites into the log. A log jack is a stand that elevates one end of a log, making it easier to cut firewood. The TimberPro is from Woodchuck Tool. They indicate that you can use this tool to lift and/or roll logs from 5” to 20” (13 - 51 cm). We have found that the teeth on the cant prevent the log from rolling or twisting when we cut lengths for splitting. The tool also has two feet to distribute the weight of the log better, keeping the feet and the handle from readily sinking into moist ground. The unit is very well made and utilizes powder-coated steel. The handle, brackets, and feet are all made from 6061-T6 aluminum. It’s robust and reduces weight. The cant is made of high-quality powder-coated steel. The cant features a toe lift that lets you remove the hook from the log when repositioning the tool. This reduces the frequency of bending over and associated back stress and strain. The tool weighs 12 lbs./5.44 kg. While $130 is not cheap, neither is having a helper move logs. This tool has transformed several two-person jobs into ones I can handle singlehandedly. Since I’m in the U.S.A., I like it when I find products made here, such as the TimberPro. This directly supports our economy, workforce, and industrial base. Even better, the tool comes with a lifetime warranty. We bought ours from Sheldon Hill Forestry at: https://www.shforestrysupplies.com/89... This tool will serve us well for a long time. It is very well made and functions well. The handle is long enough to provide needed leverage, and the entire tool is of moderate weight. We highly recommend the Woodchuck TimberPro 47”/119 cm Cant Hook - Log Jack, model #891-WCT0X. Great gear like this helps us JUST DO IT YOURSELF better, faster, and safer!
