It doesn't look good for the team coached by Fernando Santos, as the symbolic player of the Portuguese national team, Cristiano Ronaldo, gets injured. After several vain attempts to stay on the pitch, the Portuguese champion gives up and gives way to Ricardo Quaresma. The match is tense, it seems like there are two coaches on the pitch; in fact Cristiano Ronaldo is there, next to Fernando Santos giving instructions to the team as if he were an assistant coach. The change that turns the game around is that of Eder, a striker who historically has never scored many goals, who comes on in place of midfielder Renato Sanches. Eder himself decides the game in the 109th minute with a shot from outside the area that leaves no chance for Lloris and the French national team: Portugal is the champion of Europe.
