We landed in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia’s capital, and spent a couple of days exploring the city. We visited the towering Genghis Khan statue and the serene temple nearby. An early snowfall had blanketed the landscape, making everything beautiful, though the temperatures were well below zero. While touring, we met with local agencies and chose Mongolia Vision Tours. They welcomed us with a clean, comfortable dorm and arranged a great adventure into the Gobi Desert, traveling in a rugged Russian 4x4. We drove mainly off‑road, stopping at yurts and meeting nomadic families. The journey south revealed endless horizons and a glimpse into traditional Mongolian life. Over five days, we experienced the desert’s most iconic sights: The flaming red cliffs of Bayanzag, glowing at sunset. A walk through Yolyn Am canyon, where ice lingers even in summer. A dinosaur dig site, echoing Mongolia’s rich paleontological history. The vast Khongoryn Els sand dunes, where we climbed to the top and watched the desert stretch endlessly. From snowy city streets to desert sands, Mongolia offered us unforgettable contrasts. It was a journey of landscapes, history, and warm encounters with nomads — a trip we will always remember.
