Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos:    / @busibbisobs9072    Bay City Rollers founding member Alan Longmuir has died aged 70.  The Edinburgh-born musician had been fighting a serious illness for several weeks, after falling ill while on holiday in Mexico, the Daily Mirror reports .  It is not known exactly what illness he was suffering from.  Liam Rudden, writer and director of I Ran With The Gan, said: “Having worked closely with Alan for the last seven years I am devastated by the news he has left us.  “Alan was one of the most gentle, generous and kind-hearted people I have ever known.  "He touched the lives of everyone he met with a smile that made them feel special, insisting that despite his amazing adventures in life he was still just “a plumber from Edinburgh.”  Just one month ago, Alan was rushed to hospital while on holiday in Mexico with his wife Eileen.  A message shared on Facebook page 'Bay City Rollers Pen Pal Reunion' asked fans to pray for Alan as he receives treatment.  The message reads: "Posted with permission of Alan and Eileen Longmuir.  "Unfortunately we need to inform all our friends that Alan has been taken seriously Ill whilst holidaying in Mexico.  "He has been admitted to hospital and is currently receiving Specialist Care for a virus that is attacking his vital organs."  It continued: "We know you will all want to send loving, caring and healing thoughts to Alan as we understand how much you care for him. Please keep both Alan and Eileen in your hearts and prayers over the next few days."  One of his last tweets, on New Years Eve was a nod to apparent ill health.  He wrote: "Wishing you all a guid New Year and many more from Eileen and I. May 2018 bring you peace and prosperity. Thanks for being there. Your love and support is amazing. Best regards Alan x"  The Rollers first shot to fame in 1971 when they topped the charts with Keep On Dancin’.  Two years later, singer Les McKeown, bassist Alan, drummer Derek and guitarists Eric Faulkner and Stuart “Woody” Wood were the biggest pop sensation in the world.  In the 1970s they conquered the UK, US and Japan with hits including Shang-A-Lang and Give A Little Love.  They sold 120million records and had their own TV show before splitting in 1978.  The aftermath was marked with bitter battles over money between the band and managers.  In 2015, frontman McKeown revealed the band had buried the hatchet over old arguments and were looking to get back together.  Les, Alan and Woody reformed in 2016 for a series of massive comeback gigs, including a show at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro on December 11.  However, that was to be the band's last comeback, as Wood and Longmuir are said to have been unhappy at singer McKeown continuing to tour without them and promoting his own material.  The band split permanently after 2016. #TheEdinburgh, #born, #star, #been, #several, #weeks, #after, #taking, #unwell, #while, #holiday, #Mexico #Facebook, #BayCityRollers, #Edinburgh, #Socialmedia
