Although these Specialized Comp Carbon Levo’s are essentially the same model, there are 4 years that separates these 2 bikes. We found that the new Gen 3 Turbo Levo has more range, a smoother motor, better suspension with longer travel, a slacker head tube angle, mullet wheel combo, shorter cranks, higher bottom bracket, shorter chain stays, longer wheelbase, shorter stem and a longer reach on this model. Essentially, the Gen3 Turbo Levo is better than the Gen 1 in basically every category. Instead of turning the Gen 1 2018 Levo in for a newer Gen 3 Levo, we went to our friends at Dirtlabs (https://bit.ly/Dirtlabs) to see if we can improve the Gen1 Turbo Levo. We replaced the Rockshox Revelation fork with a Fox36 E Optimized fork with 10mm more travel than the Revelation, bumping it up from 150mm to 160mm. The fork is also a 29er, so we mulleted this bike out like the Gen3, with a 29er up front and a 27.5 in the rear. The rear shock got upgraded from the Rockshox Monarch to a Fox DPX2. We added a more aggressive, Specialized Eliminator 2.6” wide tire to the rear. In the front, we scored a 29 inch Roval wheel from a different Specialized build and mounted a Specialized Butcher 2.6” tire.
