I stored my luggage on the 3rd floor of the airport and took the Maglev train — just 8 minutes to Longyang Road 🚄. From there, I hopped on Metro Line 2 to Yu Garden, where I strolled through the garden and the surrounding market. I tried the famous straw dumplings, but they weren’t really my taste, and even the popular Dim Sum at Din Tai Fung (Hong Shao Rou and Fried Milk) felt a bit disappointing 😅. Next, I visited the Korean Provisional Government historical site, walked around Xintiandi, and stopped by Wukang Mansion where street photographers were offering photo sessions 📸. The shots were free to take, but edited copies cost 20 RMB (about 4,000 KRW) each — I bought just one! Later, I went to a massage shop recommended by locals, and honestly, it was even better than what I’ve experienced in Southeast Asia. Afterward, I explored Nanjing Road, visited the M&M’s store, tried the famous Lillian’s egg tart at Shinsegae Department Store, browsed Miniso 🎁, had a crab noodle dish, and finally ended the night with a stunning Bund view of the Oriental Pearl Tower 🌃. Before heading back, I randomly dropped into a local restaurant for a quick meal. In total, I spent about 11 hours exploring Shanghai during this short layover. The humidity and massive crowds were tough, and honestly, the food didn’t suit my taste. Also, I didn’t find people particularly friendly.
