Howard Carter the man who discovered the Tutankhamun tomb in 1922 is famous around the world. Here we have Howard Carter’s own personal leather suitcase which he used to travel back and forth from Luxor to London from new up until 1939. The case dates to the early part of the 20th century and very likely was in use with him when Carter discovered Tutankhamen in the Valley of The Kings in Egypt. The case is initialed for Howard Carter. The case was gifted to John ‘Tim’ Healey by Carter in 1939. John Healey worked for the Chicago Institute from 1932 to 1970 and was friends with Howard Carter until Carter left Egypt and died in London in 1939 An exceptionally rare piece…here it is getting sold in auction!
