Ashwathapura Deshastha community people have been followers of Sri Brahmachaitanya Mhaharaj of Gondavale in Maharashtra and his disciple Sadguru Sri Brahmananda of Beladhadi, Venkatapura in Gadag district, Karnataka since the late 19th Century. Enamoured by Guru-Shishya’s devotion towards spreading Rama naama smarane in Karnataka and Maharashtra, Ashwathapura (then known as Pimpala) people became determined of building a Rama temple in their native village. Sri Gutti Ramaiah of Ashwathapura, chief chef of Sadgurus’ Rama naama yajnas in Northern Karnataka, led the team from Ashwathapura to get approval of Sri Brahmachaitanya Maharaj to fulfil their ambition. They were successful in their effort. Sadguru Sri Brahmanandaru consecrated the Sri Seetharamachandra Temple in 1915. Sri Ganapathi Master, son of Ramanna master who played an active role in temple construction and the first managing trustee of the temple, was an eye witness to the entire episode. In 1992 we invited Sri Ganapathi Master to our house, Pandramajalu, and recorded the history of Ashwathapura, as recalled by him. We published this history in a book form in 2010 and distributed them free of cost to our community people. In 2015, the content of history book was recorded in a CD form, sponsored by Vidya Vilasini Sabha, Bengaluru. Now we are uploading it in to our Aseema Baduku youtube channel. #ashwathapuratemplehistory #ganapathimasteruvachapimpalastory #sriramatempleashwatthapuranirmanadetails
