Θεμελιώθηκε στις 13/06/1969 και περατώθηκε τον Σεπτέμβριο του 1972 επί δικτατορίας, ενώ εγκαινιάστηκε στις 16 Οκτωβρίου της ίδιας χρονιάς. Αποτελεί έναν από τους δύο πύργους των Αθηνών, με το μικρότερο δεύτερο πύργο να βρίσκεται δίπλα στο πρώτο. Βρίσκεται στους Αμπελόκηπους, στην αρχή της Λεωφόρου Μεσογείων. Είναι κυρίως κτίριο για τη στέγαση γραφείων και καταστημάτων. Αρχιτέκτονες ήταν ο Ιωάννης Βικέλας και ο Ιωάννης Κυμπρίτης. Παρά την κριτική που έχει δεχθεί λόγω της σχεδίασης και του μεγάλου ύψους του, ο Πύργος των Αθηνών θεωρείται σήμερα ένα από τα τοπόσημα της Αθήνας. It was founded on 13/06/1969 and ended in September 1972 under a dictatorship , while it was inaugurated on October 16 of the same year. It is one of the two towers of Athens, with the smaller second tower next to the first. It is located in Ampelokipi , at the beginning of Mesogeion Avenue . It is mainly a building for housing offices and shops. Architects were Ioannis Vikelasand Ioannis Kybritis.
