I thought it would be a perfect "goodbye 2021, hello 2022" video. Ironically, after a lot of frustration, RNG decided that I would skip 22 and get 23 instead Now I think I'm pretty much done with "standard" Gem Fall Eclipse =========== About the strategy used =========== (most of it already applies to the Gem Fall Eclipse 21 video that I posted earlier) 1) The setup itself consists of 4 rows of 4 cascades separated by 3 vertical cascades, for a total of 19. It's very difficult to build a 20+ cascade setup in 3 minutes for many reasons (you don't have much space to complete the setup efficiently, you must have a gem supply that allows for 20 cascades, etc...). Not to mention that high cascade setups have a very low rate of success 2) Cascades are colour-coded. It's not as restrictive as "cascade N must have colour C", but the rules are: vertical cascades are always white Each row of 4 cascades consists of only two colours: blue and purple, green and yellow, or red and orange. For the cubers among you, you may have an idea why it helps to consider pairs of colours that are visually quite close. I won't put blue and yellow together for example The first 3 rows (from the bottom up) contain all 6 colours (besides white). The 4th row (in the middle) contains the same colours as the 1st row (in this case, blue and purple) 3) I create two Novas, a white one which goes in the top right corner, and a coloured one (here blue) which completes the 19th cascade 4) After the Novas are created, I build the setup from the bottom up until the 5th row, then I build the top 3 rows together, right to left You might think that colour-coding the cascades makes it harder to complete the setup, but in fact it doesn't for a number of reasons: some cascades are "colour-incompatible", in the sense that they cannot be of the same colour. Concretely this means that if you assign the same colour to both, your setup won't work. This colour-coding ensures that you never make this mistake the setup looks clearer in the end. In general, restricting the possibilities means you don't have to think nearly as much about what you're doing, which is always a good thing when you're limited in time ...and other reasons that would be too complicated to explain as I would need to go into even more detail on how this setup works Keep in mind though, it's still pretty hard to complete the setup in 3 minutes, and RNG still screws you more often than not. You already need quite a bit of patience just to get the 19 cascades
