A castle built by one of America’s greatest storytellers…and conmen. For nearly a decade, Scotty’s Castle has been closed to the public after a massive flood destroyed roads and buildings in 2015. But with special permission from the National Park Service, I got to step inside and document the incredible (and unbelievable) story behind this desert fortress. From gold-mine scams and gunfights to a millionaire’s dream vacation home gone wrong, this is one of the strangest and most fascinating chapters in Death Valley’s history.
