Victoria Bjorklund discusses the changing laws regarding taxes on charities and businesses. She explores how these laws could lead to the end of charities as we know them and how to avoid a fight to the death between charities and businesses. Victoria Bjorklund, Class of 1970, is a charities lawyer who founded, and for 30 years, headed the Exempt Organizations Group at the Simpson Thacher law firm. She earned her BA at Princeton, a Ph.D. at Yale Graduate School, her law degree at Columbia Law School, and she teaches “The Law of Nonprofits” at Harvard Law School. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
