Black Women Creating Beautiful Spaces. Growing potatoes from seeds to full maturity. Harvesting potatoes is an exciting time for us on our property, being outside in beautiful space. People of colour living in remote locations enjoy the benefit of growing vegetables for every day use. We planned to become as self reliant as possible in terms of vegetables because trading nearly two hours round trip for groceries is not the best use of time or fuel. Homesteading is challenging, so clearing a heavily treed area and managing a small holding is also exciting. We were pleasantly surprised to get 40 pounds of potatoes in total - this video is of our first harvest and we did quite a few more harvesting sessions to finally get the 40 pounds of potatoes as well as zucchinis.
